Eleanor Kirkpatrick Franco-American Fellows Program

Established in 2009, the Eleanor Kirkpatrick Franco-American Fellows Program offers an exciting opportunity for metro-area French students.  A select group of Oklahoma students is chosen to participate in a two-week research project while staying with French families and attending a French school. The program is open to central Oklahoma French students, ages 16 to 22, who attend public or private high schools, career technology centers, or community colleges.

This program is a joint project between the Alliance Française d’Oklahoma City and the French Education Ministry with the support of the Oklahoma State Department of Education. A grant covers the costs of airline travel, lodging, and meals. Funding for these Oklahoma students is made possible through the generosity of the Eleanor Kirkpatrick Fellows Endowment.

Additionally, two groups of students from France, a group in the spring and fall, come for two weeks to stay with American families of an area high school and to attend school while researching their topics.

Alliance Française d’Oklahoma City is the only organization within the United states that offers a Fellows Exchange Program. Our mission is to encourage an international lifestyle and global awareness through a cultural exchange and academic study.

France was not merely another country or another linguistic region; France was a different and wonderful life. I am glad that I was able to live it, if only for a fortnight!
