FRENCH LANGUAGE EDUCATOR SUPPORT FUND PROGRAM/SCHOLARSHIP

To address the growing shortage of French teachers throughout the state of Oklahoma, L’Alliance Française d’Oklahoma City announces the creation of the French Language Educator Support Fund.  We are grateful to Mrs. Barbara Thompson, who founded this program to encourage, recognize and provide financial support for Oklahoma’s future French teachers.

Established in 2022, this endowed fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation provides a $1,500 scholarship annually to support a student in pursuit of a career in French language education at the following institutions:

Oklahoma State University         University of Central Oklahoma         University of Oklahoma

The scholarship funds can be used for required courses in the French Department, the College of Education or to study abroad in a Francophone country.  Selection of the student is handled by a designated person at each university.  Scholarship funds go through the awardee’s student Bursar Account.


Scholarship requirements:

  • Graduate/undergraduate student at one of the above universities majoring in French Education

  • Nomination by faculty member of university student is attending (Student can request faculty nomination)

  • Copy of college transcript
