Choctaw Code Talkers Event in OKC

Alliance Française members are invited to attend an event to honor the Code Talkers at the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City on Saturday, June 21st

  • Our friends with the Choctaw Code Talkers Association encourage you to bring along friends and family to this public celebration of native song, dance and storytelling

  • The young Choctaw soldiers were the first to use their native language to thwart the enemy, essentially turning the tide during World War I.

As many may remember, on November 3, 1989, the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite (Knight of the National Order of Mérit) Medal was presented in honor of the Choctaw Code Talkers by former Prime Minister of France, Pierre Mesmer on the steps of the Oklahoma State Capitol.
